25th April saw Jack Bradley race in typical Darley Moor conditions, cool, blustery and heavy showers!

Typical Darley Moor weather welcomed the riders tithe second round of races promoted by Ashfield CC. A fast pace race right from the gun saw the riders reach in excess of 40mph down the first straight with the wind behind them. The bunch stayed tight, with jack hoping to follow on from his excellent result at Mallory Park in a similar fashion rarely far from the front 6 riders.

A torrential downpour of rain and hail with 4 laps to go saw the race cut short, just as Jack was caught out by the wind and a sudden acceleration of the bunch, leaving him adrift of the main bunch. He tried valiantly to close the gap, but with laps running out he finished just short of the bunch. A creditable 12th behind the main bunch sprint.

Results – Josh Giddings – Darley Moor 4 circuit race

On 24th April, Joshua Giddings rode the Ashfield Road Club Darley Moor 4 circuit race – taking another fine win in the U12s race.

Conditions were cold and windy and we got rained on for a few laps. A good field rolled away from the start, within one lap five of us broke away after constant attacks by the Bourne Wheelers rider we were down to four with on of my team mates Jack Brough, coming up the drag to the finish the Lichfield rider jumped first Jack responded and through the chicane we were side by side blocking the others and I sprinted hard for the win with a Jack 2nd so a Heanor 1 2 in the race I was very pleased for Jack!

Darley Moor No 1 – 2013

Tom!

A group of Heanor Clarion youngsters braved near Arctic conditions at Darley Moor last Saturday to start their circuit race season.

Young Tom Wilkinson missed out on first place in the under 12 category by the width of a tyre after an epic sprint against Derby Mercury’s Josh.

The considerable efforts of Josh, Carter, Josh and Taylor were also a credit to the club!

Heanor Junior Will Perrett finished 8th in the later senior race.

Same time, same place next weekend … look for the Heanor flag!
