Last weekend Ben Marsh and Sam Marsh competed in the RAF Scampton Duathlon – part of the East Midlands Tri Series.

Ben finished 3rd in his Tri Start 1 race and Sam finished 4th in the Tri Start 2 category. Both boys performed brilliantly in really windy conditions and massive fields Ben with 41 boys and 28 girls and Sam with 64 boys and 42 girls!! Brilliant bike leg by both third fastest in there age groups.

On Saturday 28th March, Josh Giddings and Jack Brough rode the U12 race promoted by the Lichfield CC at the Curborough circuit. The race was run in wet and very windy conditions, a fast start seen about 8 riders break clear of the rest, Jack and Josh along with with local Lichfield rider Ben Askey continued to try and break away many times but the breaks didn’t go so it all came down to a sprint finish with a Josh taking the win by several lengths over Ben Askey and Jack coming in 5th another great ride from them.
Earlier in the day Ben Marsh contested the U10 races he was always well placed but missed the move of two riders breaking clear, Ben chased along with two non working riders after several attacks he distanced them with 2 1/2 laps still to go and put in a really strong and valiant attempt to bridge to the front riders but having to eventually settle for a well deserved 3rd place.
Consistent results from these riders see them currently within the UK top 20 for their age group.
This week sees Ben Marsh, Sam Marsh and Josh Giddings contest the York circuit races on a Good Friday.

Last weekend (28th March) Jack Bradley, one of our Youth riders, raced the Lichfield City series round 1 on the Curborough sprint circuit.
A creditable 16th place achieved in a race with a really fast pace straight from the gun in ever changing track conditions – very windy with showers.
Apologies Jack and Josh … this one slid down the inbox and I’ve only just uncovered it.
Youth riders Joshua Giddings and Jack Brough journeyed to Leamington Spa for the Victoria Park crits on 22nd March.
Huge congratulations to Josh who won! Great race, in fast, cool and still conditions, on the fast oval circuit, a bunch of about 15 riders including Josh and Jack tried to split it up but too fast, big bunch sprint lead out in last 200m for win, Jack took 4th place!

Club junior Tom Wilkinson took silver medals in the BSCA East Midlands Hill climb and Roller race on Sunday. The Hill Climb took on the mighty High Tor, Matlock.

A group of Heanor Clarion youngsters braved near Arctic conditions at Darley Moor last Saturday to start their circuit race season.
Young Tom Wilkinson missed out on first place in the under 12 category by the width of a tyre after an epic sprint against Derby Mercury’s Josh.
The considerable efforts of Josh, Carter, Josh and Taylor were also a credit to the club!
Heanor Junior Will Perrett finished 8th in the later senior race.
Same time, same place next weekend … look for the Heanor flag!
