Vintage Aende Road Bike

This is a rare opportunity to buy a custom built Aende road bike that I’m helping for a friend sell and many years ago member.  Having an Aende frame myself (before it got stolen) and having spent a 2 weeks work experience with Alan (Pongo) Braithwaite at Aende I’m keen that this doesn’t just go to for a snip on ebay to someone who doesn’t appreciate it.

Specification:

Frame:  56cm Columbus SLX tubing c/w integrated cabling

Drivetrain:  Campag Record, 9 speed with titanium cassette

Brakes: Campag Delta

Wheels: Mavic CXP rims with Campag Record hubs  (spare pair also included)

All components reflect the era of the early 90’s though is in immaculate condition.  the frame is painted in a red / yellow multi colour affair blended in which was typical of  custom paint jobs back then also being carried out by the like of Chas Roberts and Dave Yates.  I’ve had the only chip in the paintwork pointed out to me which any mere mortal might try to spot.  This would definitely be a head turner at any cafe stop.

I hope to post some photos next week but if anyone wants a peak in the mean time I’ve currently got it at home with the hope of taking it out for a quick spin myself.

Price:  Open to serious offers

Tour de France 2013

Tour de France 2013

Tour de France 2013A friend of mine and former Heanor Running Club member has recently moved to France and set up campsite last year centred around on providing a training ground for runners and cyclists alike.

It just so happens that it’s near the finish of Stage 13 of Le Tour this year.  Jon is keen to see some (former) local faces and as asked I share this information about his campsite and what he can offer particularly in relation to this years tour.

As well as information provided in the link below and on his website he’s looking at 3 groups of differently ability setting out on the day (July 12th) to watch the race with some local ex pros leading each.  I’m currently looking at booking and it would be great if we can get a few familiar faces out there.
