Giant Rutland 365 Sportive

Saw an article in this month’s Cycling Plus and thought it may be a good idea for a club ride/outing. It’s a permanent sportive starting from the Rutland Cycles Giant Store in Normanton. There are two routes, a 62 mile and a 96 mile route taking in the Vale of Belvoir and Melton Mowbray. It’s sign posted and works on a swipe card system with check points at Wymondham Windmill Cafe and Uppingham where you can swipe in and out. Deposit of £25 for the card from the shop of which you recieve £20 back when you hand the card in. Proceeds go towards local cycling clubs.

I spread the good word of the club on Sunday at the Tour of the Peak when someone from Ilkeston saw me in a club jersey and asked about the club, so hopefully a new member there.

Looks good – suggest a couple of dates Pete.

Alternative could be to cycle there from Heanor and do the 62mile and back??

Sunday 8th July earliest date for me and would be good training pre London to Paris. Failing that Sunday 12th August.

Good for me too as training for Vattenfall in August.
I’ll put together list of Sunday rides soon and include this on that date.

Typical. My son’s football team (which I help coach) has arranged to play in a tournament on the 8th July. Anyone fancy making it the Saturday? May be easier for getting the timing cards from the Giant store?
