A Cluster is a British Cycling idea to group Go-Ride clubs together to allow them access to facilities that they probably couldn’t afford or fully utilise on their own – there are clusters UK wide.
They are generally aimed at beginner or intermediate skill levels … definitely not advanced, aged 9 to 16.
The East Midlands 1 track cluster includes:
- Us – Heanor Clarion
- Leicester RC
- Lichfield CCC
- Witham Wheelers
- Stafford RC
Other clubs will be invited to fill spaces if appropriate. Learn more about accessing Track Cluster sessions.
The wider East Midlands cluster includes all Go-ride clubs in the BC EM region.
Examples of cluster sessions are:
- Derby velodrome coaching: Every 6-8 weeks or so youngsters are selected to attend track coaching sessions
- Derby velodrome Go-race: At the end of each rotation of clusters there will be an Go-race afternoon where cluster clubs nominate riders (in rotation) to race on behalf of their cluster
- These kinds of activities lead to further opportunities such as CTTs, Regional Schools of Racing, National Schools of Racing, etc.
These sessions are only available to junior club members who are engaged in club Go-ride activities and regional track racing.
