Quibell Park, ScunthorpeI have received a list of dates covering the various race events which are hosted by Scunthorpe Poly CC.  These events include track racing (senior and youth riders) and closed circuit road races (senior and youth riders).  The track league is based in Scunthorpe and the closed circuit races are held at Blyton Park which is near Gainsborough.

I took Carter to many of the closed circuit races last season and I can confirm that he loved it and rates Blyton Park as his “number 1 favourite circuit”.  This was partly due to the surface, which is beautiful and smooth and partly down to the fact that there was a smaller field of riders when compared to Darley Moor and the Pedal Pushers League (Grantham and Lincoln).  I can personally add that the cakes which were sold at the events last year were of a very high quality and were very reasonably priced.

Last year the Tuesday races were handicapped for youth riders with the handicap being based on age and Saturday featured straight scratch races.  As yet I do know any times, but this information will become available when the events appear on the British Cycling website.

Haven’t done any of the circuit racing stuff up there, but Ana has raced the Quibell Park/Scunthorpe Poly track league for a few years now … and I was lucky enough to do some of my commissaire training there. It’s a great league and to be recommended. Offers a different racing experience to Forest Town and/or Manchester.

Once Carter has saved up some money for a track bike and Karen has got over the money spent on his new road bike, I think we will pay a visit to Quibell Park.
